Every week, companies agree to settle lawsuits and set aside money for people who were affected. Many of those people never claim it, because the claims are hard to find and the forms are tedious. Settlement Sidekick is an Android app that helps.
- Finds open cash settlements. The app lists open settlements that offer cash payments to the public. The list comes from official settlement websites.
- Checks what each claim needs. You tell the app a few details, and it shows which claims you may be eligible for and what each claim form asks for.
- Filing for you: coming soon. Soon, if you choose to, the app will submit the claim to the settlement administrator for you. Nothing will be filed unless you approve it.
Availability. The app is coming to Google Play. It isn't available to download yet. Cost: the app is free.
Lots of people are owed small payouts and don't know it. If the app turns out to be useful, tell the people you care about so they can check too.
Common questions
How do you choose which settlements to list?
We are selective on purpose. A settlement must pay cash, be open to a broad group of people, still be open for claims, and have a simple online claim form that does not need a mailed notice, Claim ID or PIN.
Why only cash settlements?
The settlement must pay money to class members. We skip deals that offer only credit monitoring, coupons or vouchers.
Why isn't a settlement I heard about listed?
We do not list every settlement out there, so a missing settlement is not a sign that you are not owed money elsewhere.
How do I know if I qualify for a settlement?
Each settlement defines who is covered, usually by what you bought or used and when. Open a settlement for a short checklist, then confirm the class definition on the official settlement website. The administrator and the court make the final call.
Is the amount I see exact?
No. Amounts shown are estimates taken from the settlement terms or public court documents. Payouts vary and can change, for example if more people claim than expected.
When do settlement checks arrive?
Usually after the court gives final approval and any appeals are resolved, which can be months after the claim deadline. Each official site lists its schedule.
Does it cost anything to file a claim?
Filing a claim is free if you do it yourself on the settlement's official claim form. Settlement administrators do not charge to file. The Settlement Sidekick app is free too. Having the app file for you is coming soon.
